1.2 Trip and Expense Data
When you use our application to track your travel expenses, we collect:

Most of your data is stored locally on your device:
- Trip details, expenses, categories, and payment methods are stored in the device's secure local database.
- When using anonymous mode, your data remains exclusively on your device and is not transferred to our servers.
3.2 Cloud Storage (for Account Users)
If you create an account through Sign in with Apple:
- We back up your data to secure cloud storage (Firebase Firestore) to protect against data loss and enable cross-device access.
- Backups include your trips, expenses, categories, payment methods, and app preferences.
- Automatic backups occur when the app enters the background if sufficient time has passed since the last backup.
3.3 Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, loss, or alteration:
- Authentication information is securely managed through Firebase Authentication.
- Cloud data is stored in Firebase Firestore with strict security rules.
- Sign in with Apple provides enhanced privacy and security for authentication.

- Firebase Authentication: For user authentication and account management.
- Firebase Firestore: For secure backup of user data when signed in with an account.

- Deletion: You can delete individual data items in the App. To delete all your data and account, use the reset feature in settings or contact us.
- Anonymous Usage: You can use TripBudgy in anonymous mode without creating an account, which keeps all data locally on your device.
- Opt-Out of Backup: By using anonymous mode, you can opt out of cloud backup entirely.
5.1 California Residents
If you are a California resident, you have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion of your personal information, and opt-out of sales of personal information. TripBudgy does not sell your personal information as defined by the CCPA.
5.2 European Users
If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to restrict processing and object to processing of your data.
6. Data Retention
We retain your data as follows:
- Local Data: Remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App.
- Cloud Backup Data: For users with accounts, we retain your backup data for as long as you maintain an active account.
- After Account Deletion: If you delete your account, we will delete your cloud-stored data within 30 days.
- Contact Information: Email addresses provided through the contact form are retained only as long as necessary to address your inquiry.
7. Children's Privacy
TripBudgy is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
8. Updates to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons.
